Spelman Women To Vote

NAASC’s mobilization of Spelman Women to Get Out the Vote (GOTV) & Amplify Change

Our Vision

We envision a society where every Spelman alumna, student, and community member is informed, engaged, and actively participating in the democratic process. By fostering a culture of political empowerment and social justice, we aim to create a future where every voice drives positive change and champions equity for all.

Get Ready

Preparation is key for a successful voting experience. Ensure you know your polling location, the identification requirements in your area, and the candidates on your ballot. Create a voting plan, whether you’re voting early, by mail, or in person, and set aside time to exercise your right to vote. Now is the time to confirm your readiness for Election Day!

Voter Registration Laws

Each state has its own set of voter registration laws, and it’s important to stay informed. From registration deadlines to eligibility requirements, understanding these laws ensures that your registration is complete and accurate. Visit your state’s election office website to familiarize yourself with the latest regulations to ensure your voice is heard.

Check Your Local Ballot

Before heading to the polls, it’s essential to check your local ballot. Research the candidates and the issues that will appear on it to make an informed decision. You can often view sample ballots online, which will help you understand what’s at stake in your community and prepare you to vote with confidence.

Voter Education

Educating yourself on key issues, candidate platforms, and ballot initiatives is a critical step toward making an informed choice. Explore non-partisan voter guides, attend community forums, and seek out reliable resources to stay informed. Voter education empowers you to make decisions that best reflect your values and the future you want to shape.

Voter Registration

Make sure you are registered to vote well ahead of the election. If you’ve recently moved, changed your name, or turned 18, you’ll need to update or complete your registration. Many states offer online voter registration, making it quick and easy to participate in the democratic process.

Voter Verification

Don’t wait until Election Day to verify your registration status! Double-check that you’re listed on the voter rolls, and confirm that all your personal details, like your address and name, are up-to-date. This small step can prevent any surprises at the polling station and ensure a smooth voting experience.

Mail Absentee Ballot

If voting in person isn’t possible, consider voting by mail with an absentee ballot. Make sure to request your ballot early, carefully follow the instructions, and mail it back with enough time to be received by your local election office. This way, you can vote from the comfort of your home without missing the opportunity to make your voice heard.

Family Early Vote

Early voting is a great way to avoid long lines and busy schedules. Encourage your family to participate in early voting together! Make it a family event where everyone can go to the polls, cast their votes, and enjoy a moment of civic pride, knowing you’ve contributed to shaping your community’s future.

Party at the Polls

Voting should be a celebration! Many communities host “Party at the Polls” events to make Election Day a festive occasion. With food, music, and a fun atmosphere, these events encourage community participation while making the voting experience enjoyable. It’s a great way to unite with neighbors and celebrate democracy in action.

Work Polls & Election Watch Party

Poll workers play a vital role in ensuring that elections run smoothly. Consider signing up to be a poll worker, helping your community while ensuring the integrity of the election process. After the polls close, gather with friends, family, or community members for an Election Night watch party to reflect on the day and witness the results of your collective civic engagement!

Countdown to Election Day

Stay engaged and make your voice count. The election is on November 5, 2024. Mark your calendars and be prepared to vote!
